Hidden In Christ

God Is Love
The Greek Words for Love
The New Testament uses several Greek words to describe different expressions of love:
- Agápē (ἀγάπη): Unconditional, sacrificial, covenant love. It describes God's own nature and is the highest expression of love in Scripture. This is the word used throughout 1 Corinthians 13, where Paul describes love not as a fleeting emotion, but as the very character of God.
"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

- Never fails
"Love suffereth long, and is kind..." — 1 Corinthians 13
- Philía (φιλία): Brotherly affection and the deep bond between close friends. Jesus spoke of this love when He called His disciples friends (John 15:15).
- Storgē (στοργή): Natural family affection. This describes the bond found within healthy families and appears in compound forms throughout the New Testament, such as Romans 12:10.
- Érōs (ἔρως): Romantic love. Although this specific Greek word does not explicitly appear in the New Testament text, Scripture highly celebrates covenant marriage throughout the Song of Solomon and Ephesians 5.
Love Demonstrated
Perhaps the greatest demonstration of agápē is found in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world..."
The Greek word used here is ēgapēsen (ἠγάπησεν), derived from agapaō, which means:
- To choose
- To value
- To sacrificially give oneself
God did not merely feel love; He actively demonstrated it by giving His only Son. Jesus willingly laid down His life on the cross for sinners. As
Romans 5:8 declares:
"God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
The cross is love made visible.
Abide in Christ
"Remain in Me"
John 15 contains one of Jesus' greatest invitations. The Greek word translated as "abide" is μένω (menō), which means to remain, continue, dwell, stay, or make your home.
Jesus repeats this word over and over. The Christian life is not about striving harder; it is about remaining connected to Christ. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit apart from the vine, believers cannot produce spiritual life apart from Jesus.
What Abiding Includes:
- Remaining in His Word
- Trusting His promises
- Obeying His commands
- Depending upon His Spirit
- Living in continual fellowship with Him
"Without me ye can do nothing." — John 15:5
Fruit is never artificially manufactured; it grows naturally out of a life of abiding.
Healing
Jesus Still Heals
Throughout Scripture, God reveals Himself as the One who heals. One of His sacred covenant names is Jehovah Rapha—"The LORD who heals."
Biblical Accounts of Healing:
- Naaman (2 Kings 5): Naaman was a Syrian commander suffering from leprosy. God healed him completely as he humbled himself and obeyed His Word. This healing revealed both God's mercy and His absolute power over disease.
- The Woman with the Issue of Blood (Mark 5): After suffering for twelve years, she believed that simply touching Jesus' garment would be enough. Jesus responded: "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole." The Greek word for "made whole" is σῴζω (sōzō), meaning to save, rescue, heal, restore, or make whole. Jesus healed both her body and restored her societal dignity.
Jesus Has Not Changed
The Scriptures consistently reveal Him as the compassionate Savior who restores according to His perfect will and purpose.
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." — Hebrews 13:8
Throughout the Gospels, Jesus healed the blind, the deaf, the lame, the lepers, the brokenhearted, and the oppressed. He continues to do the same today.
Grace
Saved by Grace
The primary Greek word for grace is χάρις (charis), meaning grace, favor, kindness, gift, or divine blessing.
Grace is God’s unearned favor. It cannot be purchased, and it cannot be earned. It is freely given through Jesus Christ.
Paul writes:
“For by grace are ye saved through faith...”
— Ephesians 2:8
Grace is more than forgiveness. Throughout Scripture, it is also revealed as God’s empowering presence working within believers.
Paul declared:
“My grace is sufficient for thee.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Grace sustains us.
Grace strengthens us.
Grace transforms us.
Grace continually points us back to Christ.
The Holy Spirit
The Spirit of God
The Holy Spirit is fully God—the third Person of the Trinity. He is neither an impersonal force nor merely a human-like person; He is the eternal Spirit of God.
The Greek word used is πνεῦμα (Pneuma), meaning spirit, breath, or wind. Just as wind cannot always be seen but its effects are completely evident, so the Holy Spirit works powerfully in the hearts of believers.
Our Paraklētos
In John 14–16, Jesus called Him the Paraklētos (Παράκλητος), which translates to:
- Helper
- Advocate
- Comforter
- Counselor
The Ministry of the Holy Spirit:
- Reveals Jesus
- Convicts of sin
- Comforts believers
- Teaches truth
- Empowers for ministry
- Produces spiritual fruit
- Glorifies Christ
"He shall glorify me." — John 16:14
The ministry of the Holy Spirit is never to draw attention to Himself, but always to reveal and exalt Jesus Christ.
Come to Jesus
Jesus is the center of every page, every promise, and every hope. His invitation remains the same today:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28
Whether you are seeking forgiveness, healing, hope, truth, or a deeper relationship with God, the invitation is still open: Abide in Him. Trust His Word. Receive His grace. Walk in His love.

Christ in Every Area of Life
"Whatever You Do, Do It Unto the Lord"
There is no distinction between a "Christian life" and a "work life." Scripture teaches that every single part of our lives belongs to Christ.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." — Colossians 3:23
Whether we are leading a family, serving in ministry, operating a business, or caring for others, every task becomes an act of worship when it is done for the glory of God.
Christ Is the Foundation
Jesus is not meant to be invited into our business after it is built. He is the very foundation upon which it must be established.
"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." — Psalm 127:1
A Christ-centered business is marked not only by operational excellence but also by integrity, humility, compassion, generosity, honesty, and faithful stewardship. Business is not separate from faith; it is another place where the Kingdom of God is put on display.
God's Order
Scripture reveals a divine order that brings health and stability to every area of life:
When these priorities remain in their proper biblical order, work becomes an extension of worship rather than a competitor for our hearts.
Work Is a Calling
From the beginning, God established work as part of His good creation. Before sin ever entered the world, God placed Adam in the garden:
"The Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." — Genesis 2:15
Work is not a curse. Meaningful work is part of God's original design. While sin brought toil and frustration, Christ redeems every area of life—including our daily labor.
Excellence Reflects the Character of God
Followers of Christ are called to work with ultimate diligence and uncompromised integrity:
- "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." — Ecclesiastes 9:10
- "Do all to the glory of God." — 1 Corinthians 10:31
The ultimate goal of business is not simply profit, but faithful stewardship. Balanced profit allows businesses to serve employees, care for customers, bless communities, and advance God's global purposes.
A Life Integrated with Christ
The goal is not to divide life into separate compartments, but to invite Jesus into every conversation, every decision, every relationship, and every opportunity to serve. When Christ is Lord of our hearts, He also naturally becomes Lord of our homes, our marriages, our families, and our workplaces.
"And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." — Colossians 1:17
May every decision reflect His wisdom, every interaction reveal His love, and every success point directly back to His faithfulness.
Closing Thought
A life centered on Christ is not about achieving a perfect balance. Life is about a relationship with Christ. Learning to take ourselves out of the driver's seat and allowing the Lord to lead our lives in every area. Its about complete surrender to God our Creator, who wants better for us than we could ever want for ourselves. Its about learning about our Heavenly Father through his word and becoming his ambassadors on this earth. Waking up every day with our central focus being to bring glory to God in whatever way we can. Its about showing love, kindness, and compassion to those around us. Loving those that are overlooked and shunned. Going the extra mile for our neighbor. Healing the hurt, ministering to the Lost, giving hope to the hopeless, and providing for those that can't provide for themselves. It's about being an extension of the grace that has been given to us through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
